HOBSON, Charles E. “Chuck” – of Montrose, age 91, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at his lifelong home with family by his side. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Pastor Dan Shinabarger officiating. Burial to follow in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 1PM until 4PM & 5:30PM until 8PM, and on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Charles was born August 30, 1932, on the family farm, to the late Herbert and Ethel (Rose) Hobson and had lived on the same farm his entire life. Being one of seven children, Chuck worked on the farm as a child, watching the evolution of the land to what it is today. On April 24, 1954, Chuck married the love of his life, Margaret "Peggy" Jacobs, and together they recently celebrated an incredible 70 years of marriage. Chuck spent his career providing for his family at Fisher Body – Coldwater, before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post #64, and the Montrose Eagles - Blueberry Aerie #4090. Chuck took great pride in maintaining his home, especially when it came to mowing his lawn and keeping it pristine. If you drove by, chances are you would see Chuck hard at work. He always found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and the pastime of golfing. Throughout the years, family and friends would gather on the family land for various celebrations & gatherings; whether it was a baseball game, fishing with the grandkids, or playing cards at the table, company was always welcome. Hunting season became a holiday in the family, and he loved watching his sons and grandsons go out on opening day. Though Chuck will be greatly missed, the memories and traditions created will be cherished forever.
Left to cherish his memory are: Loving wife, Peggy Hobson; Sons: Greg Hobson, Brian (Sue) Hobson, and Bob (Laura) Hobson; Grandchildren: Ashley (Jordan) Jeffers, Brad (Jenna) Hobson, Eric (Katlyn) Hobson, and Andy (Paige) Hobson; Great grandchildren: Justin, Nathaniel, Kaitlyn & Logan Jeffers, and Rylan & Cole Hobson; Many other loving family members and dear friends. Chuck was also preceded in death by: Sisters: Florence Dunning, Ruth Freestone, Rosemary Brown, and Maxine Weigandt; Brother, Herbert Hobson.
