STEAD, Clare. – of Montrose, age 86, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8PM and on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF).
Clare was born on November 15, 1927 in Otisville, Michigan to the late Jonathon B. and Linnie (Bechtel) Stead. He married Virginia M. on February 3, 1951 in Burton, Michigan. She preceded him in death on December 24, 1990. Clare retired from GM with over 32 years seniority. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Clare enjoyed playing his guitar at the senior center and being with his family.
Surviving are: children, Dennis (Gail) Stead, Thomas Stead, Samuel Stead, Aubrey Stead, Clarice Stead; 9 grandchildren; sister, Ruth Kelley; sister in law, Donna Stead. Clare was preceded in death by his sons, Clare Stead Jr. and Walter Stead; daughter, Audrey Hatfield; brothers, Donald Stead and Bob Stead; sisters, Esther Shawulak and Beverly Strange.
