PANKO, Stephen M. – of Davison, age 82, passed away July 17, 2018 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 PM Monday, July 23, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. Visitation will be from 11 AM – 2 PM & 4-8 PM on Sunday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:15 PM on Sunday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Monday at church.
Stephen was born in Flint, MI on February 24, 1936, son of the late Steven J. and Stella (Wasarab) Panko. He married Emily Slann in 1957. Stephen retired as a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Stephen was a member of the Michigan Trappers Association and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the NRA and a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Emily Panko; children, Stephen D. Panko, Jeanette (Tim) Yaklin, Deborah (Michael) Galloway, Daniel (Laura) Panko and Diane Panko; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Susan McConnell and Margaret (Paul) Pfleger; brother, Richard (Margo) Panko. He was preceded in death by brother, John Panko and one great-granddaughter.
