Femelia Grace “Pam” Brooks, 96, formerly of Vassar and Flint Township, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the Bay County Medical Care Facility in Essexville. She was born January 27, 1922 in Vassar, daughter of the late Seley and Pauline (Purzycki) Tansky. She was a graduate of Vassar High School. She was employed as an office worker in dentistry profession in the Flint area for several years. She was a former member of St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Her Catholic faith was one of the most important aspects of her life and she practiced that faith by being a loving caregiver to several people during her lifetime. Her favorite hobby was reading.
Surviving are her two sisters, Helene Namour of Beirut, Lebanon; and Charlotte Histed and her husband Sherman of Munger. Also surviving are her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, Pam was predeceased by her son, Robert C. Brooks in 2007, three brothers; Jim, John, and Ed Tansky and her two sisters; Victoria Walmsley, and Cecelia Tansky.
The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Father Christian Tabares will officiate with burial next to her son, in the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar. Her family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. There are no visitation hours scheduled at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese or St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese.
