JONES, Genola Faye – of Burton for 64 years, age 83, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., 9136 Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1-4 PM & 6-8 PM Wednesday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society in Genola’s name.
Genola was born in Golconda, IL on June 8, 1936, daughter of the late Ralph and Barbara (Belford) Gullett. She was the youngest of seven children. Genola married Joseph T. Jones on June 27, 1954 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1995. She was a very active member of the Bentley Wesleyan Church for many years. Genola loved to read. She helped with the elections in Burton. Genola loved to travel; making a special trip to Jerusalem.
Genola is survived by her children, David (Shirley) Jones, Barbara (David) Clay; grandchildren, James (Stephanie) Smith II of South Carolina, Jackie (Kyle) Richardson, Jacob Kehoe, Haley Denty, Hayden and Shayn Clay; great-grandchildren, Skyler Thomas, Brooke Bain, Jaxson Brown; brother, Robert Gullett; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Rebecca Jones-Smith and Debra Jones-Thorpe; grandson, Michael Thorpe.
