Ernestine Doris Burgess of Davison age 93,died Tuesday March 13, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday March 19, 2012 at the Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Rev. Daniel Wallace officiating, with burial in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. those desiring may make contributions in Ernestine's memory to the Daviosn United Methodist Memorial Fund. Ernestine was born in Elba Township June 5, 1918 the daughter of Leo E. & Mary B.(Hoagland) Mayer and has resided in the Davison since 1940. She was joined in marriage to Bernard Weekley July 25, 1938 and he preceded her in death June 11, 1959. She married Basil Burgess on May 6, 1961 and he preceded her in death December 5, 1997. She was a member of Davison United Methodist Church and the Blue Star Mothers. Doris was employed by General Motors for twenty-six years retiring in 1980. surviving is step-son, grandchilren, great grandchildren, great great granddaughter, nieces, great nieces and great nephews and cousins, and a host of close friends.
