POTTER, Ruth – of Davison, age 89, passed away June 5, 2013 at Whispering Pines Adult Foster Care of Lapeer. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Rev. Ronald Shamel officiating. Burial will follow in Davison Cemetery. The family will be welcoming visitors Friday 4-8 PM and Saturday 10 AM until time of service. A Memorial Service under the auspices of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 267 will be held at 7 PM Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davison American Legion Post # 267 or Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
Ruth was born in Gladwin, MI on March 23, 1924, daughter of the late Wallace and Fannie (Webb) Shamel. She married Preston Potter on January 21, 1945 and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1994. Ruth was a member of Judson Baptist Church and the Davison American Legion Auxiliary for 61 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and golfing. Ruth retired from Citizens Bank.
Ruth is survived by her four sons, Larry (Tanya), Greg (Sally) , Randy (Cyndi), David (Sandy); grandchildren, Laura , Steve (Katie), Leigh (Nate) Remsburg, Matthew (Mandy) , Jamie, Stacey; sister- in-law, Lucy Brushaber; good friend, Carol Caryl. She was preceded in death by siblings, Lowell, Vivian, John, James, William, and Robert; sister-in-law Beverly (Gene) Hartwig; brother-in-law, Bud Brushaber. The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Whispering Pine - AFC for their wonderful care.
