A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at McGeehan Funeral Homes - New Lothrop Chapel.
A lifelong resident of New Lothrop, Margie was the daughter of Kenny and Lucinda Birchmeier and sister to Marlene, Barb and Micky.
Margie lived next door to her future husband. It was not love at first sight, but one day Margie had John Gross over for a cup of coffee and she was smitten by what she often referred to as "the most handsome man she had ever seen".
Together they raised three children; Bryan, Nick and Patty. They enjoyed their six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Margie enjoyed playing games, traveling and visiting with friends and family. For many years she would use her talents as a seamstress, making, mending and lengthening clothing for whomever would ask. Margie was also a custodian at New Lothrop Public schools for many years, as well as a devoted life long member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She especially enjoyed golf and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Left to cherish her memory is her children, Bryan (Janet) Gross, Patty (Tom) Green, Nick (Connie) Gross; grandchildren, Allison (Marc) Powers, Jennifer (Mike) Zacharda, Krystle (Evan) McLaughlin, Daric (Megan) Gross, Brooke Green, Brent Green; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Marlene, Barb, and Micky.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
The family would like to thank The Meadows of Owosso for the wonderful care given to Margie during her stay.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family. They will be collecting needed items to donate to the Meadows of Owosso.
