Shoop, Rosalyn Y. "Rosie" - of Pontiac, formerly of Flint, age 84, died Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Mayfair Bible Church - 5339 W. Pierson Rd. in Flushing. Pastor Dean Stewart officiating. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly at a date and time to be announced. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday evening from 6-9 PM and Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Mayfair Bible Church - Building Fund.
Rosie was born August 11, 1933, in Emmetsburg, Iowa to the late Clarence and Madge (Quick) Harrison. She graduated from Central Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario. She married Paul Shoop on June 18, 1955. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2010. Rosie was a longtime member of Mayfair Bible Church where she served as a children’s Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. She was also very active with the Joy Women’s Ministry at the church. Rosie was also a past Vice President of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees. She was a former mentor in the Flint Public School District and loved spending time with children.
Surviving are: 2 children: Dara (Charles) Hoke of Charleston, SC and David (Kathy) Shoop of Pontiac; 5 grandchildren: Cassandra, Kathryn, Timothy, Chloe, and Joseph; 9 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher, Sarah, Laura, Hannah, Daniel, Nara, Henry, and Edmund; Sister, Mary Ann Adams of Clarkton, NC.
