BOWEN, Reverend Jack E. – Of Mt. Morris, age 80, graduated to Heaven Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Monday, July 27, 2020 at Living Word Family Worship Center 6376 West Mt. Morris Road, Pastor Jesse England officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Those desiring may make contributions to IPCC Global Missions, PO BOX 439 London, OH 43140, designated to build a church in Mexico in his honor.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Reverend Bowen will be at church from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service.
Jack was born in Huntington, WV on December 21, 1939, the son of the late Charles and Garnet Bowen, and was a resident of Mt. Morris since 1979.
He married Emilee Davis on November 28, 1958.
He was an ordained minister with the International Pentecostal Church of Christ of London, Ohio for 51 years and served as a North Central District Overseer and General Board Member.
Reverend Bowen was a pastor of Calvary Temple, now known as the Living Word Family Worship Center, for 25 years, retiring in September 2004.
For the last six years he and his wife were regular attendees at Trinity Assembly of God in Mt. Morris.
He and his wife also operated an adult foster care home, Golden Acres AFC.
In retirement Reverend and Mrs. Bowen provided medical transportation and were known as “The Angels of Flint”.
Surviving are wife, Emilee;
4 children, LaRonda and husband Jesse England,
Jack II “Ace”
Jeff and wife Kathy and
Vicki Willard;
12 grandchildren;
22 great-grandchildren;
sister-in-law, Pauline Bowen of Ohio;
many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
The family extends a special thanks to the Medical Team Hospice, especially Chaplain Goody; nurses, Ashley, Nina, Sherry and Lisa.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you Trinity Assembly of God for providing the funeral luncheon; and a special thank you to Pastors Rob King, Bill Christensen and Tyler Bowen for their prayers, support and visitation.
