O’Connell, Robert S. of Flushing, age 83, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at McLaren-Flint. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Mary’s Queen of Angels Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek. Fr. Nathaniel Sokol will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Rossell Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Robert was born in Flint, MI on July 25, 1929, the son of Cyril and Ruth (Sevener) O’Connell. He married Normalee Gilbert in Flint, MI on November 29, 1952. He was employed by Buick Motor Division for 39 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Mary’s Queen of Angels Church of Swartz Creek.
Robert is survived by: his wife, Normalee; five children, Ruth O’Connell of Grand Blanc, Rita and husband Raymond Bennett of Lockport, NY, Michael and wife Dru O’Connell of Stow, OH, Steven and wife Lisa O’Connell of Hudsonville, MI, Mary Hart of Cottontown, TN; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. |
