IAQUINTO, Catherine (Walsh – Guarascio) “Nanny” passed in Gods good graces, Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. She died from Heart Failure. Nanny was born on a hilltop in a one bedroom home in Mt. Clair, West Virginia on January 26, 1920. She was one of nine children born to Pasquale and Louise Guarascio, immigrants from Italy. Nanny was raised and educated in West Virginia. On September 8, 1944 she married Sam Iaquinto and together in 1946 they moved to Flint, MI. She was a very religious woman beginning and ending each day with prayer and prayer to her maker. Nanny was a long time member of Sacred Heart, St. Agnes and currently St. Charles and Helena Catholic Churches. She was also a life time member of the Italian American Woman’s Club. Nanny learned and mastered the art of cooking from her immigrant mother and continued to daily grace the family table with Italian Cuisine and her hard chicken. The Iaquintos door was always open and Nanny fed everyone who walked through that door. Her home was believed to be a hive of honey as the large family and friends always congregated there. Nanny was a very family orientated woman her interests in life were family tradition, food (cooking) and prayer. She will be missed and very loved by all her family and everyone who knew her. She is survived by son, Sam and Deborah Iaquinto and family, Rick and Laurie (Holden and Paige) Fraidenburg, Todd and Tracey (Lucas and John) Schwalbach and Elizabeth Iaquinto. Daughter, Louise and Lloyd Gerhardt and family, Ryan and Helen (Kelsey, Kayla and Cooper) Gerhardt, Andrew and Katie (Kylie, Marisa, Alexis) Sobol, son, John and Mary Iaquinto and family, Bill and Heather Gilbert (Sawyer and Dawson) and Nicole Iaquinto.
