James Leo Gasper, of Chesaning, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on November 19, 2024, at the age of 89.
Jim was born on January 14, 1935, one of thirteen children to John and Edith (Eisenhower) Gasper. Jim graduated from Maple Grove High School in 1953, and shortly after, married the love of his life, Marlene Birkmeier on May 4, 1957, at St. Michael Catholic Church. Jim was a very successful Master Plumber at the Local 370 in Flint for 40 years until retiring.
Jim was an active member in the New Lothrop community. He was involved in the school activities, including the New Lothrop Athletic Association, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Michael Catholic Parish.
Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marlene Gasper; children, Bruce (Carol) Gasper, Connie (Pat) Whelpley, Jerry (Tammy) Gasper; grandchildren, Alex, Breana, Kelsey, Bryce and Grace Gasper, Elizabeth and Christine Whelpley; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Arthur, Cletus, Harold, Leonard, Richard, and Robert Gasper; sisters, Edna Krupp, Erma Polash, Betty Gasper, Ellen Bishop, and Mary Lou Gasper.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel from 2:00pm until 7:00pm, with a Vigil service at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 2:00pm at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove, with visitation starting 1:00pm until the time of mass.
Memorial donations are suggested to the family. |
