SAGE, Bruce Daryl – of Flint, MI, age 77, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Interment, with Military Honors, 10 AM Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Monday, July 29, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Monday, July 29, 2024 followed by Memorial Services conducted under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus Most Blessed Sacrament Council 11532, Holy Rosary Parish and the Ardon F. Dubie Fourth Degree Assembly 0523 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Bruce’s memory.
Bruce was born in Flint, MI on April 23, 1947, son of the late Ed and Hatti (Town) Sage.
On September 9, 1967, Bruce and Judith Shelski began a journey together that would be filled with love, dedication, and shared experiences. Bruce, a proud and devoted U.S. Marine Corps veteran, served with distinction during the Vietnam War from 1965-1972. His commitment to his country was exemplified by his role with the Presidential Security Unit, where he safeguarded the Marine One helicopter at Quantico, VA. After his military service, Bruce continued to exhibit his steadfast dedication as he spent 32.5 years at General Motors, retiring in 2004. His loyalty and hard work were evident throughout his career. Bruce’s devotion extended beyond his professional life. He was a respected member of the American Lung Association, where he served as a Facilitator for Freedom from Smoking. Bruce was also actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, particularly with the Singing Knights, serving as Deputy Grand Knight with the Most Blessed Sacrament Council 11532, Holy Rosary Parish and the Ardon F. Dubie Fourth Degree Assembly 0523. Bruce was also an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In his personal time, Bruce found joy in woodworking and traveling, pursuits that allowed him to express his creativity and explore new horizons. Bruce’s life was a testament to service, faith, and community. His legacy will be remembered through the countless lives he touched and the values he upheld. He leaves behind a lasting impact on all who knew him and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy Sage; 2 children, Troy Sage and Tami Herrick; 8 grandchildren, Jasmine (Seth) Patterson, Haylee (James) Osburn, Austin (Lilly) Herrick, Ian Herrick, Peyton Herrick, Gabe Herrick, Averi Herrick and Noah Herrick; 4 great-grandchildren, Alaric, Grayson, Theo and Judy; 4 siblings, Vanessa (Ed) Patterson, Victoria (Ken) Tossi, Valerie (Mark) Thiel and Mike Sage; special sister-in-law, Paula Reif; brother-in-law, Steve (Tena) Shelski; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Hatti Sage and son-in-law, John Herrick.
