Francis "Bill" William Sawvel
Age 76 of Chesaning passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Memorial Healthcare Center.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 10 from 2:00 to 8:00pm.
Bill was born on June 7, 1942 to Chester and Edith (Sands) Sawvel in Flint. He married Madeline Courter on July 25, 1964; they celebrated 54 of marriage this year.
Bill worked for various lumber and sawmills throughout his life. He was a member of the Great American Coon Club, and he loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed trips to the casino. Most of all, Bill loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife, Madeline Sawvel; his children, Mark Sawvel, Virginia (Andy) Giesken, Tonya (Chris) Cody, and Jodi Sawvel (Steve LaLone); his grandchildren, David, Jeremy, Mark, and Jessica Sawvel, Andrew (Jordyn) and Brandon Giesken, and Trenton and Ashton LaLone; his 14 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Irvin (Maxine) Sawvel, Clayton Sawvel, and David "Junior" Sawvel; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; his brothers, James, Robert, Richard, and Charles Sawvel; and his sisters, Elizabeth Swirlik, Leona Kolusk, and infant Virginia.
