STANDOKES, Mr. Troy D. - Age 81, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 735 E. Wager St., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Pastor James Waldon officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 1 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Standokes will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Troy D. Standokes was born August 31, 1929 in Cotton Vallley, Louisiana, the son of Bessie White. Troy was a great provider. He was a fair, but firm father and grandfather. Troy retired from General Motors V-8 Engine Plant in 1983.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Dorothy Lee Standokes; 6 children, Ernest (Dorothy) Standokes, Brenda (Grady) Randle, all of Flint, Carolyn Whitmore of Arkansas, Doris (Ernest) Murray, Kevin Standokes and Clayton (Ruby) Standokes, all of Flint; host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mrs. Jewel Cochran of Detroit, MI; a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Standokes was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie White; and sister, Thelma Coleman.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Hurley Medical Center 4th floor CCI and everyone that supported the family during this time.
