WIGGINS, Erwin “Doug” – of Columbiaville, age 64, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at his residence. Per Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service, with Military Honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #267, will be held 1 PM Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Visitation will be from 12-7 PM on Wednesday. On Thursday, visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of service. Private inurnment will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Doug was born in Cadillac, MI on December 11, 1949, son of the late Erwin F. and Elvera (Vigil) Wiggins. Doug earned his Associates Degree from Mott Community College. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army. Doug was a life member of the 11th Armored CAV’s Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post #267 of Davison and 2nd Squadron, 1st (Armored) Calvary Association. He worked for GM at the Chevy V8 Plant for 32 years, retiring in 2000. Doug was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golfing, bowling, motorcycle riding and spending winters in Florida.
Doug is survived by his wife of 39 years, Louise; children, Mandi and Andrew; his Mountain Feist dogs, Lily and Olive. He will also be dearly missed by many close family and friends.
