1920-2014
Davison: Shirley Burdick, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, while in the company of her loving family. She is now reunited with her devoted husband, Jack, who while out of her touch the past ten years, has never been out of her heart. She is also reunited with her long departed parents, George and Catherine Muehlfeld, and her siblings: Harry, Ralph, Alice and Marion. Shirley nurtured and left as her legacy, six children and their spouses: Jeff (Cheryl) Burdick, Chris (Mike) Smith, Linda (Fred) Hall, Sam (Pat) Burdick, Marsha (Gary) Price and Larry (Theresa) Burdick. She provided the same love, wisdom and sense of belonging to her 12 grandchildren: Beth Pratte, Joy (Matt) Hevron, Lance Smith, Tim (Lisa) Hall, Tony Hall, Angie (Dave) Lawrence, Lisa (Alan) Winkel, Brett Burdick, Allison (Robbie) Linkner, Kari (Andy) Vanderheuel, Liz (Carl) Erickson and Jack Burdick. Shirley was also blessed with the joy of 11 great-grandchildren: Mason, Lilly, Josie, Sigmund, Mitchell, Will, Eli, Lindzey, Kevin, Garrett and Spencer.
While a caring wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley was also a devote member of her St. Johns Parish family, for more than 60 years. It was while attending Easter Mass at St. Johns that Shirley took ill, and hearing the call of God joined Him two days later. She was a member of the Altar Society and Blue Army in her younger days, and a supporter of the Parish school, where her six children attended. Shirley ardently supported her children’s athletic and school endeavors with her husband and continued that tradition with all her grandchildren. In addition to a lifetime of devotion to her family, Shirley served a career as a nurse and doctor’s assistant, tending to the needs of the Davison community. Our loving Mother will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial will be in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Saturday, visitation will be at the church from 10 AM until the time of service.
