GEISTER, Kirk R. - of Clio, age 71, went to live with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Harper Hospital in Detroit. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Messiah Lutheran Church. 520 Butler Street, Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Funeral Home in Clio on Wednesday from 4PM until 9PM and at the church on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Those wishing to make a contribution in Kirk’s memory may donate to Messiah Lutheran Church’s “Samaritan Fund”, “Paving the Way”, or a charity of one’s choice.
Kirk was born on September 1, 1944 in Flint, Michigan to the late Hugh and Lucille Geister (Chappell). He lived his entire life in Clio and graduated from Clio High School in 1962. Kirk graduated from Central Michigan University in 1967. He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1967 to 1973. Kirk began working for General Motors in 1967 and worked in various personnel departments until retiring in 1999. In 1966, Kirk married the love of his life, Cheryl L. Labby and the two of them would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 20, 2016. Kirk was a very active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and had previously served on the Clio Board of Education and the Clio Community Foundation Board. He loved spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren, going to the family’s cottage in East Tawas, woodworking, working in his yard, reading and most of all, dancing with his wife.
urviving are: Wife, Cheryl Geister of Clio; Daughter, Stephanie (Kevin) Polzin of Sterling Heights; Son, Aaron (Alison) Geister of Flushing; Four grandchildren: Christian Polzin, Peyton Polzin, Joshua Geister and Ryan Geister; Brother, James Geister of Atlanta, Michigan; Father-in-law Nelson “Bud” Labby of Clio; Brother-in-law, Chad Labby of Grand Blanc; several nieces, great nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lois Labby and sisters-in-law: Tanis Geister and Rhonda Labby.
