ALLEN, John D – Of Grand Blanc, age 84, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Maple Woods Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Chris Yager officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service with a private burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 12 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
John was born in Flint, Michigan on November 8, 1928, the son of the late Lee and Lucille Allen. He married Clover Stopher on August 8, 1947.
John served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
He worked as an Electrician and retired after 50 years of service from Local #948.
John enjoyed being a professional Dog Show Judge with his wife, Clover for the American Kennel Club for over 20 years.
Surviving are wife, Clover;
four children, Chrisanne and husband Dean Argue, Gale and husband Ralph Marcotte, Kenneth and wife Linda Allen, Kelly and husband Charles Zimmer;
11 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Donna Wiley, Jenny Moench;
two brothers, Dan (Betty) and Tom (Bobbi);
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
