Kozel, Jean C. of Flushing, age 89, died Monday, August 5, 2019, at Chesaning Comfort Care. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2019, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta officiating. Burial will follow at St. Robert Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the Mass. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Catholic Church or March of Dimes.
Jean was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 22, 1930, the daughter of Edward and Florence (Kraemer) Geiss. She married Stephen Kozel on October 6, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2014. Jean was a long-time member of St. Robert Catholic Church. Together with her husband, they enjoyed traveling, which included camping and visiting casinos. They were volunteer tutors in the New Lothrop Schools. Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles of all kinds. She enjoyed walking and visiting fairs, whether it was a county fair or an art fair.
Jean is survived by her seven children, Mary “Lisa” Kozel, Peter and wife Jacqueline Kozel, Kerry and wife Nancy Kozel, Kevin and wife Caryse Kozel, Carolyn and husband Todd Williams, Bethany Kozel-Emmendorfer, Jeff and wife Angela Kozel; grandchildren, Eric, Jenny, Brett, Andrew, Kaylee, Cody, Jimmy, Sam, Sarah, Dorian; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Robert and wife Marilyn Geiss; and sister, Leslie Finn. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Arlene and husband Cyril Reffert; and brother, James and wife Peggy Geiss.
