On Thursday, November 12, 2015, Lorretta Marie Hatcher, 65, was welcome back to the house of her Lord. She passed with family and friends at her side, in her apartment at Northern Pines of Grayling.
Lorretta was born on December 19, 1949 in Lansing, Michigan, and was the first of seven children of Samuel and Cecelia (Daly) Stanaway. She was a 1969 graduate from Lansing Eastern High School. Lorretta worked as a professional nanny for several families around the Lansing area, and ran the day care center at the Impressions 5 Museum for several years. Lorretta loved children.
On July 9, 1970 in Canoochee, Georgia, Lorretta was married to Berry Dean Hatcher. They were blessed with a wonderful son, Andy, in January 1986. The couple spent several years in the Lansing area, near Loretta’s family, and then lived in Wellston and in Houghton Lake. After Berry retired, they moved back to his hometown in Georgia. Lorretta came back to Michigan to be with family, following the death of her son and husband. Lorretta was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Swainsboro, Georgia and attended church at St. Mary's in Grayling and Our Lady of the lake in Houghton Lake.
Surviving Mrs. Hatcher are her daughter-in-law, Heidi Klump, three sisters, Cecelia "Fran" (Charles) Kahle, Patricia (Paul) Babladelis, Mary (Paull) Fry; three brothers, Samuel (Cathy) Stanaway, Gerard Stanaway, Michael (Khristine) Stanaway; several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. Lorretta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Berry Dean Hatcher, and son, Dean "Andy" Hatcher.
Mass of Christian Burial for Lorretta Marie Hatcher will be conducted at 11:00am Thursday November 19, 2015 from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Rolando Silva officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of the service at 11:00am at the church. Memorial Contribution in memory of Lorretta are asked to be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
