KEMPF, Lawrence E. – of Burton, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on April 7, 2015. A Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Gregory E. Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Imlay Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Atherton United Methodist Church. Lawrence was born in Imlay City, MI on June 11, 1916, son of the late Brice and Myrtle (Blanchard) Kempf. He married Margaret L. Jolly on May 27, 1941 in Imlay City. Lawrence was a long time active member of the Atherton United Methodist Church of Burton. He especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Lawrence loved vegetable gardening, designing and making stain glass lamps and woodworking with special skills in making furniture and clocks, including two grandfather clocks and many other decorative items. Lawrence also enjoyed playing classical music and hymns on his piano. He worked for Consumers Energy as a supervisor, retiring after 43 years of service. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of almost 74 years, Margaret; daughters, Laura Wallis of Burton and Martha (Marvin) Knapp of Clio; grandchildren, Mark (Mary Beth) Sousa of Dearborn, MI, David (Stephanie) Sousa of Sparta, MI, Jane (David) Plamondon of Flushing, MI, Joseph (Carrie) Knapp of Davison, Amy Hawkins of Grand Blanc and Jason (Pilar) Knapp of Marietta, GA; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother, Phillip (Phyllis) Kempf of Vero Beach, FL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son, Steven L. Kempf; sons-in-law, Denis Sousa and Chester Wallis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Edna) Kempf and Albert (Frances) Kempf.
