CRANDALL, Nelson Ray. – of Montrose, age 75, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at his residence with family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Montrose United Methodist Church, 158 E. State St. Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Monday from 12PM until 8PM and at the Church on Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Contributions may be made to Montrose United Methodist Church or the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. Nelson was born September 23, 1941 in Montrose, Michigan to Norman and Mary Louise (Nelson) Crandall. He graduated from Hill-McCloy High School in 1959. Nelson married Barb Whitaker on August 27, 1960. Mr. Crandall retired from Fisher Coldwater in 1996 with 37 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #326. He was a 50-year member of Montrose United Methodist Church and VP of the BBC Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed tinkering, hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and farming. Nelson also enjoyed trips to the cabin up north and walks with his beloved dog, Penney. Surviving are: Wife of 56 years, Barb Crandall of Montrose; Daughter, Barbara (Keith) Boswell of Montrose; Son, Duane (Suzanne) Crandall of Oakland Twp.; 6 grandchildren: Brandy Boswell (T.J.), Ashley (Joe) Cavanaugh, Keith Boswell (Fiancée Sarah), Riley Crandall, Jack Crandall, and Carissa Crandall; 1 great-grandson, Kadynce Geffers; Mother, Mary Louise Crandall; Siblings: Norma (Charles) Coon, and Linda (Jim) Caraway. Nelson was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Ray Crandall; Brother, Dennis Crandall; Sister, Delores Menuey, and father, Norman Crandall.
