Irene Eleanor McKnight, age 79, of Alma, passed away on November 1, 2017 at Pathway Masonic Home of Michigan. She was born August 13, 1938 in Flint to Gearald and Isabella (Dunsmore) Boulton. Irene married James Ross McKnight on June 25, 1955 in Lake City, Michigan.
Irene had lived in the Falmouth and McBain area before moving to the Michigan Masonic Home in Alma. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, traveling, and managing the camping parks in Texas, Arizona, and California. She had been a school bus driver for the Durand Area Public Schools. She retired in 1984.

Irene is survived her husband James McKnight, daughter Brenda Kay (David) Johnston of Crescent City, CA, grandchildren; Deidra Ann Kolman of Crescent City, California, Sandra Lynn (Adam) Freeland of Lake City, Jessyca Irene (Brent Kilpatrick) McKnight of Lennon, Frederick Arthur (Tara Ott) McKnight of Wisconsin, Sara Leigh (Jacob) Enos of Crescent City, California, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Sister Laura Long of Lodges, Durand, daughter in-law Vickie McKnight of Falmouth, in-laws; Maxine Delashmit of Flint, Margaret (Ed) Dombrowski of Flint, Mary (Chuck) Gaylord of Flint, Walter (Karen) McKnight of McMillan, And Glenn Daniel (Kay) McKnight of Clarkston, TN.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, son James Michael McKnight, granddaughter Holly Kolman. Funeral services will be held at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Boven officiating. Burial will be in the Holland Township Cemetery East. Visitation will be Tuesday 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.
