OSTRANDER, Devere (Dee) - Of Burton, age 80, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 10am Wednesday, May 25,2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor David Knox officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of the Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family. Visitation 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Genesee Lodge #174, F.&A.M. on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Ostrander was born in Flint, Michigan on September 4, 1930, the son of Levi and Emma Ostrander. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1951 and then served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1962.
He was a lifetime member of the Flushing Lodge #174, F.&.A.M.
Dee worked for General Motors until his retirement in 1991.
Dee is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara (Lindsley);
son, Dale G.; daughter, Carrie Jean and husband Andy Ciak;
six grandchildren, Felicia, Jeffrey, Michelle, Madelyn, Drew and Allison; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Garry, in November, 2008.
