Charles Alfred Garant
Age 83 of Frankenmuth, formerly of New Lothrop passed away on Saturday March 9, 2019 in Florida.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Frankenmuth with Fr. Robert Byrne officiating.
The family will receive visitors after 10:00 am. Interment will take place in St Michael Cemetery.
Charles was born on April 6, 1935 in Flint to Norman and Margaret (Prieur) Garant. He married Marie S. Hebekeuser on October 18, 1958, she preceded him in death on July 30, 2012. Charles then married Lois Braun on December 1, 2013 and she survives him.
Charles was a graduate of St Michael High School in Maple Grove, he then graduated from GMI with a Bachelors Degeee and retired from General Motors where he worked as a General Foreman. Charles especially enjoyed his Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, fishing, he was a member of Michigan Knights of the Highway Motor Home Club. He enjoyed his winters in Hudson and Port Charlotte Florida. He was also a member of the Frankenmuth Conservation club.
Charles is survived by his wife, Lois; his children, Mark(Laurene) Garant, Connie (Art) Birchmeier, Rhonda (Chris) Hajek, Matthew (Katy) Garant, Lisa (Mike) Vermeersch and Paula (Mike) Milks; 19 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, Lois's children; Michael & Susan, Thomas & Nancy, Matthew & Kimberly and 7 grandchildren; sisters; Pat Wenzlick, Marjorie (Lloyd) Henige, Kathy (Ronald) Gross; sister-in-laws; Helen Wolfrom, Margaret Hebekeuser,Josephone Brock, brother-in-law- Donald Hebekeuser.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, his parents and a sister, Fidelis Kline.
Memorials are suggested to Sister Margaret Mary Birchmeier-Chimbote Peru Mission.
