Richard "Rick" Hicks
Age 63 passed away peacefully at McLaren-Flint on June 2, 2016 after a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held 11am Sunday June 12, 2016 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Chaplin Robert Ellis and past Chaplin Bill Marks officiating. Luncheon to follow at the Owosso Eagles #851. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday June 11, 2016 from 2pm to 8pm.
Rick was born on October 19, 1952 to the late Wanda (Bruske) and Richard Hicks. He grew up in the Flint area and was a graduate of Clio High School; Class of 1970.
For many years Rick worked and eventually ran the family business of Flint Plating. He also was an owner/operator of Partz Corporation in Owosso.
Rick lived life to the fullest and believed in working and playing hard. He bowled for over 40 years and achieved two perfect 300 games. He also golfed on many leagues throughout the area. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and any University of Michigan sports. Rick was an Eagle member and past trustee of the #851 Aerie. He took great satisfaction in tinkering, remodeling and restoring things. Rick loved to garden and grow his own vegetables to make his famous salsa and pepper relish.
Left to cherish his life and memory is his love and friend Kathe; son Matt; daughters Amy (Bob), Allison (Chris); grandchildren Cody, Brooke, Morgan, Karissa, Makena, Nate and Vesper; sisters Suzanne, Linda (Bob) and Karen; special cousin Don (Karen); family members Lillian, Keith and Jackie, Rob and Jane, Dan and Sonja, Dave and Anne and many other special family members, nieces, nephews and cousins and friends; ex-wife Judy and the family pets Millie and Charlie.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother Gary; brother-in-law Mike, Uncle David and cousin Doug.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family or for a chair/stair lift for the Eagles #851.
