BUSH, Verlin W. “Jack” - Of Flint, age 84, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held 1:30p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Jack Eagan, Hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park with a Military Graveside Service under the auspices of the Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation 5-8p.m. Monday, 10am-8p.m. Tuesday and 10a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held 7p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Verlin was born in Ionia, Michigan on May 26, 1926, the son of the late Frederick and Margaret Bush and resided with his granddaughter Robin and husband Gary Ferrier. Verlin served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Morning Star #556 F.&A.M. in Swartz Creek and the Burton Eagles. Verlin enjoyed Tiger Baseball, watching his grandchildren play sports, spending time on the lake and hunting and fishing. He retired in 1988 from Fisher Body II as a Tool and Die Maker after 42 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #1292. Surviving are children, Sandra Bush of Mt. Morris, Terry and husband Jerry Wagner of Oscoda, MI and Jere and husband Jerry Gillean of Davison;
21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren;
1 great-great-grandson; Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Audrey, son Daniel Bush Sr., granddaughter, Lori Wagner, grandson, Todd Walker and his dog Dozer
