Roberta was born in Flint on June 16, 1951, the daughter of Theodore and Marilyn Jean (Parkinson) Langdon. She graduated from Hamady High School and attended Central Michigan University, majoring in Physical Education and Teaching with a minor in Mathematics. When she was young, she dreamed of becoming a horse jockey, but she was too tall. Robbie enjoyed music and even learned to play the accordion.

She attended Ross Medical Education Center and earned a certificate in Medical Secretary. She then was employed to teach and later worked in administration. She was also later employed by the Computer Learning Center as an administrative assistant.

Robbie was a dedicated supporter of the Lupus Foundation and was a shining star for Lupus awareness and research. As a survivor of Breast Cancer, she knew the importance of supporting these causes to help others in the fight. Robbie lived with great courage and faith which was known to all as the source of her strength as she battled chronic health conditions. Robbie loved Jesus and she enjoyed Christian fellowship. In her younger years, she was a Stephen Minister helping others through times of joy and sorrow. Robbie was a proud a member of Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Burton where she has many friends. She served in many leadership roles at church. Robbie was a church council member, mutual ministry member, chairperson of the social ministry committee and she enjoyed helping with children’s ministry.

Robbie loved her group of special friends that she made through her work and church connections. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Every time health issues became tougher, Robbie became tougher. She loved life and she loved her friends and family.

Robbie’s most notable hobby was cross-stitching. She would cross-stitch bookmarks, ornaments, and pins. She especially liked making cross-stitch bookmarks for the children at Salem Lutheran Church Day Camp and Atherton Elementary, in part because Robbie loved to read. Her favorite books were mysteries and Christian novels, but the Bible was the most used book she had.

Robbie’s favorite food was chocolate, especially M & M’s. The blue ones were her most favorite. Robbie was always young at heart, full of joy and life. Playing with bubbles and coloring were activities that she enjoyed during times of health recovery. She enjoyed reading the newspaper comics. Robbie loved to laugh and crack jokes. She also loved caring for her many cats over the years which brought much love and companionship.

She will be missed dearly but the love that she shared remains in our hearts and memories forever.
