SAVOIE, Dennis – of McAllen, TX, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at home with his wife and sons at his bedside.
Dennis was born in Flint, Michigan on April 16, 1954 to Fernand and Velma Savoie.
He attended Holy Rosary Catholic High School where he excelled in academics and sports. He graduated in 1972 and attended General Motors Institute (GMI) where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Administration in 1977. He went on to enjoy a 44 year career with AC/Delco and Delphi.
Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Teresa (Turchi) Savoie in 1974. They shared 50 years of marriage and together raised three amazing men. Luke, Dominic and Brett were their father’s pride and joy and he considered them his greatest accomplishment in life.
In 1988, Dennis moved his family to McAllen, Texas as part of GM’s expansion into Mexico. He worked in production control and managed the Penske plant when he retired from Delphi in 2017. The three year commitment Dennis made to GM to work in south Texas turned into 36 years and the family is forever thankful for our wonderful south Texas family and friends.
Dennis was a lifelong fisherman and hunter. At a very young age he learned the joys of bass fishing from his Grampa Mian and passed on those joys to his sons. He loved the solitude of fishing on a boat as the sun set or sitting in a deer blind surrounded by the silence of snowfall. He was a quiet man with an easy smile and warm heart. Through the years, he enjoyed many fishing and hunting trips with his brothers, uncles, sons and cherished friends.
Dennis is survived by his wife Teresa; sons, Luke (Shannon) Savoie, Rev. Dominic Savoie, FSSP and Brett (Elena) Savoie; grandchildren, Emelia, Grayson, Emeric, Augustine, Sebastian, Petra, Paula and Cosmas Damian Savoie; sister, Judy (Bill) Franklin; brothers, David Savoie, Duane (Cindy) Savoie, and Don (Sue) Savoie; Aunt Mary (Rick) Putvin; Uncle Jimmy (Trish) Mian and beloved mother-in-law, Carmela Turchi, whom he called “mom” for 50 years; many more aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends too numerous to list but ever dear to his heart.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Fernand and Velma Savoie; his father-in-law, Adolph Turchi and his grandparents, Edward and Denise Savoie, and Mario and Marianna Mian.
The family would like to thank everyone who prayed for Dennis and our family the past six months. Dennis was overwhelmed by your love and support and we felt the grace of God on each of us.
