Barrett, Edgar M. of Flushing, age 89, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Heartland-Fostrian Manor. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Rossell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Edgar was born in Flint, Michigan on September 19, 1923, the son of Carol and Susan Barrett. He was a 1941 graduate of Northern High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Edgar married Wanda Kogut on November 3, 1946 in Flint. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2007. Edgar worked for General Motors, retiring after 35 years. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed building and fixing things.
Edgar is survived by his son, Douglas and wife Ellen Barrett of Flushing; grandchildren, Sarah and husband Chad King, Steven Barrett and great-grandson, Brayden King. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Coleman and brother, Eugene Barrett.
