BELL, Ronald L. – Of Fenton, age 73, died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Todd Syruws officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Visitation 3-7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Ron was born in Flint, Michigan on January 9, 1938, the son of the late Lester and Bernice (Goddard) Bell and was a resident of Fenton for many years. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School Class of 1956 and attended Flint Community College and did his apprenticeship at Chevrolet. Ron married Barbara Gebstadt on March 12, 1960 in Flint. Ron was a member of the Home Building Association and the NRA. He was an avid skier and reader. Ron collected many things. Ron owned and operated JB Supply Company in Flint and was a home builder in the Genesee County area for many years. Surviving are wife, Barbara; three children, Stacey and husband Trent Haverstick of Fenton, Ronald Scott and wife Tanya of Flushing, Shannon and husband Myron Johnson of Flint; three grandchildren, Ashley Wimp of Fenton, Paige Dotson and Ronald L. Bell II, all of Flushing; step-brother, Leo and wife Doris Atchison; several nieces, nephews; best friend, John and wife Nancy Roberts of Fenton; along with many other friends; his dog, Duchess and several cats.
