COMPTON, Alfred Eugene "Gene" - Age 74, of Flint, died Friday, February 5, 2016. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 5-8 PM and Tuesday from 4-8 PM.
Gene was born July 22, 1941 in Grundy, VA, the son of William Donald and Ocie Lucille (Jackson) Compton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had resided in Flint since 1954 coming from Virginia. He married Donna Kay McAfee September 26, 1972 in Flushing. Gene retired from Kroger's. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 876.
Surviving are: his wife, Donna; sons, Andrew and wife Deborah Compton of Swartz Creek and Brent Compton of Flint; grandsons, Jack and Cash; siblings, Earl and wife Wilma Compton of Virginia, Ruth Littlepage of Flint, Wanda Compton of Flint Township, Harold and wife Pam Compton of Tennessee, and Darrell and wife Tammy Compton of Flint Township; mother-in-law, Kathryn McAfee of Flint Township; sisters-in-law, Brenda Hawkins of Alabama, Sandy McAfee of Grand Blanc, Doris and husband Ed O'dell of Flushing, and Melinda and husband Kevin Baker of Grand Blanc; brother-in-law, Junior and wife Vickie McAfee of Flint Township; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Compton; father-in-law, Elmer McAfee; and sisters-in-law, Laurie Cram and Mae Whitehead. Online tributes may be posted on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
