HOLLAR, Edward Samuel, DDS – of Flint, age 79, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Avalon Hospice. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Friday, April 13, 2012 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Dr. John D. Bailey officiating. Cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1-3PM. Contributions may be made to Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity 1502 Hill St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104, The Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org) or charity of one’s choice.
Ed was born October 26, 1932 to the late Earl David and Rachel (Ruark) Hollar in Belleville, MI. He graduated from Belleville High School, then attended U of M and the U of M Dental School, graduating in 1957. After graduating, he practiced dentistry in Montrose, MI for 42 years, retiring in 2001. He was a life-long member of the Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity and the MI Dental Assoc. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed playing cards and board games, holidays and anything U of M, especially football.
He will be sadly missed by: companion, Juanita Woolworth; daughters, Laura (Richard) Kovalcik, Margaret (Temel) Tirkes, Anne Hollar; son, James (Susan) Hollar; grandchildren, John, Katie, Olivia and Violet; sister, Virginia Gies. He was also preceded in death by: son, Thomas Edward Hollar; and brother, David Hollar, DDS. A special thanks to the entire Woolworth family for their years of love and support.
