Delbridge, Richard W. of Swartz Creek, died Friday, July 13, 2012 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 at Flushing Presbyterian Church. Rev. Teresa Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow at Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-8 p.m. Sunday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church.
Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on August 29, 1931, the son of Dorcy and Jessie (Hewitson) Delbridge. He married Shirley J. Anthony in Swartz Creek on August 2, 1958. Richard was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Swartz Creek V.F.W. and the American Legion. Richard was a GM retiree and farmer and also the former Clayton Township Supervisor. He enjoyed car shows, old cars and his dogs.
Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley; daughter, Terri Delbridge; brother, James and wife Evelyn Delbridge; sister, Elizabeth and husband James Fonger; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Bendall.
