MARTIN (SHIELDS), Margaret Eleanore – Of Grand Blanc, age 89, died Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Dr. James M. Leonard officiating.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by the Lighted Cross performed by the Jobs Daughters of Michigan.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Michigan Jobs Daughters Scholarship.
Margaret was born in Flint, Michigan on December 8, 1927, the daughter of Harry and Lucy (Simmons) Shields.
She was an active life member of Grand Blanc Eastern Stars #507, honorary member of Grand Blanc Jobs Daughters. She was a member for over 50 years of First Baptist of Grand Blanc and an active member of the retiree’s union #659.
Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and also enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are children, Tim and wife Diana Martin of New Burn, NC;
Mike and wife Sharon Martin of Davison,
Marsha and husband Jeff McDonald of Flushing and Terry Martin of Grand Blanc;
sister, Dorothy and husband Carl “Wayne” Griswold of Fife Lake;
grandchildren, Nicholas Martin, Denee Moleta, Nachelle Moore, Nicole Garrett, Bryan Martin, Jodie, Jonathan and Crystal McDonald;
16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Wayne Martin; parents, Harry and Lucy Shields; sisters, Edith Steiner and Helen Shields.
