KING, Evelyn Elaine – of Flushing, age 75, died Monday, January 21, 2019 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan. Vicar Andrew Simpson officiating. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Evelyn was born September 5, 1943 in Caro, Michigan to the late Cecil and Mary (Neph) LaForest. She grew up in the Perry area for several years. On December 18, 1986 she married James Franklin King Jr. and he preceded her in death on October 13, 2008. Evelyn worked at the Mecca Restaurant in Clio as a Waitress for several years. She was a long term resident of Mt. Morris for 34 years. Evelyn also enjoyed long visits with her dear friend Sandra Lawson upon her porch swing. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. Evelyn was chosen to be the Centennial Queen for Clio’s 100 year celebration. She enjoyed baking birthday cakes, home designing, gardening and doing yard work. Evelyn also liked to do carpentry work and built their home with her husband. However, family dinners and spending time with her family was her greatest joy in life.
Surviving are: Children, Dan (Lisa) Verus, Elaine (Charles) Griffith; Grandchildren, Michael Petersen, Melisaa Petersen, Carlie Griffith, Chelsie Griffith, Jason Verus, Emily (Andrew) Halifko, Aimee Langman; Great Grandchildren, Chloe Verus, Riley Verus, Reid Halifko, Mila Langman; Siblings, Robert LaForest, Don (Diane) LaForest, Larry (Connie) LaForest; and several nieces and nephews.
