Bernadine (Marchok) Turnwald
On June 28, 2019, Bernadine went home to be with the Lord. She leaves behind her beloved husband Richard to whom she was married for 63 years; her children, Richard, Michael (Jo Ann), and Mark Turnwald; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Turnwald; and her nephew and nieces, Harry Andres and Diane Ziola (Brian) Strong whom she loved as her own children. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Turnwald.
She was the cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Sydney, and Maxwell, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
Bernie was born on February 12, 1937 to the late Steven and Mary Marchok. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Helen Palmer, Virginia Brezny,and George Marchok; Niece Agnes Andres.
Bernie was a devoted member of St. Michael's parish. She was a Eucharistic Minister, cantor, and she was the vocalist in many weddings. She enjoyed caring for the parish flower gardens. Bernie was a BeFriender in the BeFriender Ministry.
Throughout her life, Bernie enjoyed singing, performing in community theater, and traveling. She visited all 50 states and over 50 countries.
Her career included working at Universal Electric in Owosso. She worked at St. Michael's Parish in Maple Grove Township where she retired from after 27 years of service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at St. Michael's Catholic Church of Maple Grove. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel on Monday, July 1 from 2:00 to 8:00pm with a Scripture service at 7:00pm.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Michael Catholic Church.
