BANKS, GORDON G. - Of Mt. Morris, age 83, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Frankfort, Michigan.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Westwood Heights Free Methodist Church, 3397 Windland Drive, Flint, Bruce Banks officiating.
Burial in Flushing Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Westwood Heights Free Methodist Church, Greenville College, Greenville, IL or Colby’s Orchard House in Frankfort, Michigan.
Visitation 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mr. Banks will be at the church 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 until the time of the service.
Gordon was born in Harlan, Iowa, on December 25, 1934 the son of the late Rollin and Mabel (Graves) Banks. He lived in Ottumwa, Iowa and Mt. Morris, Michigan.
On August 10, 1957 he married Arlene Cromwell in Belfast, New York and she preceded him in death on September 18, 2012.
He was a charter member and choir director of the Westwood Heights Free Methodist Church.
Mr. Banks was employed as a teacher, counselor and principal at Atherton and Flint Public Schools.
Surviving are children, Susan (Robert) Miller, Nancy (Matt) Reed and David (Laura) Banks;
grandchildren, Kendall, Luke and Jake;
brother, Wilson (Sylvia) Banks and sister, Miriam Kamp.
