EMERY, CATHY - Of Flint, age 66, died Thursday, June 13, 2019 at
McLaren-Flint.
Born in Hamilton, Ohio, Cathy moved to Flint in the early 70’s and started her career at General Motors shortly after. She worked for GM for more than 30 years first starting at Fisher Body and later working until her retirement in 2006 at Flint Metal Fab.
Cathy was known to everyone around her for her remarkable sense of humor, intelligence, and loving nature. She was never afraid to get her hands dirty, as she trained horses in her youth and later worked in what many considered a male dominated field as welder repair at GM.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father John Helton, mother Ada Helton, stepfather Malachi Giffitt, and sister Sue Elam.
She is survived by her son, John (Kristi) Helton, daughter, Amanda (Chris) Ringler, son, Donald Rady; sister, Maggie (Greg) Gates; grandchildren, Joseph Helton, Michael Helton, and Jacob Helton; niece, Jennifer Gates and nephew, Greg (Kaitlin) Gates.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
