William A. Iversen, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away on October 3, 2024, at his home in Columbiaville, Michigan. Born on February 27, 1945, in Jackson, Michigan, Bill's life was marked by his loving nature, selfless spirit, and a zest for life that touched everyone he met.
Bill grew up in Fostoria and graduated from Mayville High School in 1963, and shortly thereafter, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. After his military service, he embarked on a dedicated career with the State of Michigan, from which he retired after many years of faithful service. Bill was very active in many community organizations such as Otisville Masonic Lodge #401, Vassar Masonic Lodge #163, Shriners, Lapeer Eagles, Lapeer Moose, VFW and American Legion. He was also an avid University of Michigan fan that enjoyed cheering his teams on to victory.
In September 1986, Bill married the love of his life, Collene, and together they created a life filled with joy and cherished memories. He was a devoted family man, and his love for his family knew no bounds. He is survived by his wife, Collene Iversen; his daughter, Dee Dee (Gary) Cronenvhet; his stepson, Chad Turcsak; his sister, Jeanne Iversen; his beloved grandchildren, James, Brianna, Clara, Austin, and Kayla; and his great-grandchildren, Ian and Wren, who brought him immense joy in his later years. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Mary Iversen, who instilled in him the values of kindness and generosity that he carried throughout his life.
Bill's friendships were as enduring as his love for his family. He shared countless memories with his close friends John Meyer, Gil Theakston, and Carl Ryan, who will miss his companionship and lively conversations.
A man of many interests, Bill found pleasure in the simple things in life. He was an avid gardener, whose vegetable were enjoyed by many. Motorcycle riding was not just a hobby but a passion that gave him a sense of freedom and adventure. Fishing was another pastime that allowed him to enjoy the tranquility of nature and the thrill of the catch.
Those who knew Bill will remember him as a kind-hearted and spirited individual who was always ready to lend a helping hand. His selflessness was evident in every aspect of his life, from his service to his country to the care he provided to his family and friends.
