SIMMONS, Audrey M. (Bills) – of Flint, MI, age 81, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2017. A Funeral Service will be held 10 AM Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Blvd., Flint, MI 48506; Pastor Gary L. Beck officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 1-8 PM Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 9-10 AM Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Mark Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, in Audrey’s name.
Audrey was born in Flint, MI on June 10, 1936, daughter of the late Dillman and Lyda (Cool) Bills. She married William J. “Tex” Simmons on June 24, 1955 and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2012. Audrey was employed as a cook with the Kearsley School System, retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, the Ladies Guild and the Ruby Jewels Red Hat Society.
Audrey is survived by 3 children, Christine (James) Shann, Cheryl Coon and Jeffrey (Susan) Simmons; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, William (Marilyn) Bills, Jean Bills Pemberton and Judy Garza; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by 8 siblings, Ruth, Kenny, Bob, Dale, Ed and Harold Bills, Velma Elston, Marge Hendershot.
