Bird, Lillian of Flint, age 91, died Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Birchwood Meadows. Per her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Westwood Heights Free Methodist Church, 3397 Windland Drive, Flint, 48504. Pastor John Price will officiate. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Christian Church in Swartz Creek.
Lillian was born in French Lick, Indiana on April 11, 1923, the daughter of Virgil and Ruth (Elledge) Powell. She married William Bird and he preceded her in death in 1970. Lillian was a member of Calvary Christian Church. She was a nurse and worked at McLaren for 15 years. Lillian enjoyed traveling and crafts, especially needlepoint. She was an avid reader. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Lillian is survived by her sons, David and wife Kathy Bird of South Carolina, Thomas and wife Debra Bird of Flint; daughter-in-law, Sherry Bird; grandchildren, David (Tayna) Bird of Ortonville, William (Amy) Bird of Maryland, Melissa (Chris) Mastroni of Colorado, Brian (Julie) Bird of Colorado, Hilary (Ryan) Griego of Colorado, Thomas (Avery) Bird of Lapeer; great-grandchildren, Adaline, Laurel, Caitlin, Matthew, Sofia, Emileigh, Jeremiah, Brooklyn, Kylar, Jace; dear friend, Norma Clark. She was preceded in death by her son, Martin T. Bird and grandson, Trevor Bird. |
