ELLIS, John Wayne “Wayne” – of Davison, age 74, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at home with his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday, October 26, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 212 Center St., Otisville, MI 48463; Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Davison. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Friday, October 25, 2019 with a scripture service at 7 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Wayne was born in Nashville, TN on October 26, 1944, son of the late Jack and Pauline (Webster) Ellis. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1963-1983, retiring in 1983 as Senior Chief Petty Officer (Radioman). Wayne later worked for Ferguson Block, retiring in 2006. He married Kenneth Ferguson in Scottsburg, IN., on November 5, 2014. Wayne was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Otisville.
Wayne is survived by his spouse, Kenneth Ferguson, Jr.; special “kids”, Chester (Larissa) Cottrell, Cheri Cottrell, Charlie Cottrell; brother, Ray (Rose) Ellis; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Martin, Charles (Linda) Ferguson, Thomas (Joanne) Ferguson, Richard (Susie) Ferguson, James (Tammy) Ferguson, Steve Scharrer; sisters-in-law, Joan Ellis, Mary Lou (Charlie) McCarter, Ann Ferguson, Kathy Schupp, Sally Whitney, Nancy (Phil) Kus, Kathy Ashworth, Lynne (Ken) Travis; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Evelyn Martin; brother, Kenneth Ellis; sister-in-law, Genevieve Scharrer; brothers –in-law, Donald Ashworth, Arthur “Bud” Whitney. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Arora from the Karmanos Cancer Center and Kristen from the McLaren Hospice for their care of Wayne.
