LYLES, Carol Ann - Of Flint, age 71, passed away surrounded by love on Monday, October 8, 2018.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor LeQuin R. Williams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Visitation 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Carol was born May 17, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, the first born of Carl L. and Josephine S. (Urbanik) Harchick.
Carol was a member of the first graduating class of Flint Northwestern High School in 1965. After graduation, she was employed by Arlan’s Department Store, before spending several years at Flint Blueprint.
In 1973, Carol began her 30-year tenure with the United States Postal Service until she retired in 2003.
She also worked for Kessel/Kroger on Pierson Road in Flushing, as well as the Kroger on Corunna at I-75. After retirement, she briefly dabbled with working at Meijer on Pierson Road and Miracle Ear in the Courtland Center.
On April 14, 1979, Carol wed Lloyd Lyles Jr. in their Flint home, where they raised their two daughters.
Carol was very skilled with a crochet hook, making hundreds of blankets in her time. She also did embroidered pillowcases, that she loved to give to family and friends. Carol loved to play games on the internet, where she met many lovely people, who became her friends on pogo.com. She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers.
Carol is survived by her former husband, Lloyd Lyles Jr. and daughters, Lori Ann and Abby Rae-Ann Virginia.
Along with all the children, friends and grandbabies that came to know and love Mama Carol.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts and several cousins.
Special thanks to the staff at McLaren, especially the nursing staff from RNs to students; you went the extra mile to care for Carol and her daughters.
