PEREZ, Helen Marie – Of Flint, age 84, died Friday, February 20, 2015 at Regency at Grand Blanc.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 6481 Faussett Road, Howell, Father Gary Koenigsknecht officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Perez will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the Mass.
Helen was born on May 11, 1930 in Flint, Michigan.
She graduated from All Saints Catholic High School in 1948.
Helen married Tirso M. Perez, Jr. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on March 10, 1951.
Helen will be remembered for her great faith, love of family and mischievous nature. She had great patience, a beautiful smile, and was soft spoken. Her kind and gentle spirit and fun loving personality will be remembered and cherished by all.
One of her favorite holidays was Halloween, because she loved to dress up and treat the kids. Her favorite singer was Elvis.
Helen was a Teacher’s Aide and Tutor, because of her love of children, especially those with special needs.
Surviving are children, Kathy (Barry) Harrison,
Stephen (Karen) Perez,
Julie (Tim) Cyrus and
Anne (Tom) Schlecht;
grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Matthew, Melissa, Stephanie, Cecilia;
great-grandchildren, Stephen, Jr. and Ashby;
sister, Rita Robison;
brother, Bernard Sefernick;
many special nieces and nephews;
extended family, Pam (Duffy) Gorski and Erica (Paul) Huddas and Liam.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tirso Perez, Jr. in 1983; son, Michael in 1955; her parents, Lawrence and Philomena; brothers, Joseph, Lawrence, Paul and James and sister, Pauline.
