COMBS, John H., Jr.– Of Flint, age 89, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at Comfort Senior Care in Ortonville.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Doug Combs officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Higher Praise Church, 4060 Grand Blanc Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday and 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home
until the time of the service.
John was born in Fredericktown, Missouri on August 11, 1925, son of the late John Sr. and Rachael (Irwin) Combs.
On January 1, 1945, he married Gladys Lawrence and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2011.
He was a former member of West Flint Church of God.
He loved hunting, fishing and playing softball.
Mr. Combs retired from GM, Flint Township Fire Department and Swartz Funeral Home.
Surviving are daughters, Sharon (Bob) Mertz of Troy, Jackie (Dave) McGrady of Leroy WV; Sons, Jim (Diane) Combs of Flushing, Dan (Chris) Combs of Kalkaska, Doug (Karen) Combs of Harrison, OH;
11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
