CHERRY, Faith E. (Nankervis) – of Davison, MI, age 85, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, March 13, 2020 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1084 North Irish Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Friday, March 13, 2020 at Grace Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children, in Faith’s memory.
Faith was born in Hillsdale, MI on April 19, 1934, daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie (Morgan) Nankervis. She married Lee O. Cherry on January 2, 1981 in Flint, MI. Faith retired from Dupuis and Ryden Accountants in Flint, MI in 1992. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Faith enjoyed her arts and crafts and crocheting. Her true passion was collecting cat memorabilia. Faith was caring, patient and considered an ultimate lady. Her sharp wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Faith is survived by her husband of 39 years, Lee O. Cherry; son, Tracy Barber; 2 daughters, Debra (Jon DeGroot) Kekel and Linda (Rick) Hayes; 2 step-sons, Alan (Diwon) Cherry and Gregory (Kay) Cherry; step-daughter, Sandra (Jerry) Stober; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 2 brothers, Richard Vath and Gerry (Cheryl) Vath; 1 sister, Sheryl McCoy; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Nellie Nankervis; son, Douglas Barber; 2 grandsons, Luke Kekel and Richard Cherry; 2 brothers, Eugene Nankervis and Barry Vath; brother-in-law, Jack McCoy; former husband, Robert Barber; step-daughter, Susan Green and life long friend, Shirley Sullivan. The family would like to say a special thanks to the caring rehab and hospice staff at Ascension Genesys in Grand Blanc.
