Michael S. Wolverton, 46, of Vassar, died Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2018 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. He was born December 25, 1971 in Saginaw, son of Jerry and Ruth (Wagner) Wolverton of Vassar. Mike was a 1990 graduate of Vassar High School. In his younger years he was employed at Zehender’s of Frankenmuth. After finishing high school he was employed by Du-Laur later becoming Cass River Coating in Vassar. He attended St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. His hobbies included bowling, playing pool at Wayne’s Pub in Vassar, and driving his dune buggies. He especially enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and was avid fan of Tony Stewart.
Surviving besides his parents, Jerry and Ruth, is his brother, Randy Wolverton and his wife Chris of Vassar; niece, Ashley Wolverton, nephew, Adam Wolverton and his wife Elizabeth of Lansing; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 from St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. Father Christian Tabares will officiate with Committal Rites to follow in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Reese. Mike’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 North Andrews Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2132, St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church, 334 Division Street Vassar MI 48768, or the donor’s favorite charity.
